Event Details

Hosted by The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

Casual attire

Tickets $25 – $55

BSO Pulse is back for the fourth season — bringing together the worlds of classical music and indie artists onto one stage! Each concert crosses genres, opening with a classical performance by members of the BSO, a set from our featured artist and culminating with a unique collaboration between the two groups.

D.C. native Kelela embodies contemporary R&B, blending jazz influences and progressive electronic music to create an entirely new sound. With collaborations that include Solange and The Gorillaz under her belt and praise from The New York Times and Pitchfork (Best New Music), Kelela is an artist you will not want to miss.

The show kicks off with a pre-concert party with live music by Emmanuel Lulu Moss and food specials from our favorite Baltimore spots including:
Dooby’s
Terra Cafe Bmore
Red Emma’s Bookstore Coffeehouse
The Sandlot
The Charmery
Mexican On The Run
Broadway Market

Classical-music programming for this concert will feature:

Schubert: Death and the Maiden, 1st mvt (arr. Mahler for string orchestra)
Gershwin: “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess (Melissa Wimbish, soloist)
Caroline Shaw: Entracte (string orch version)
Rossini: “Una voce poco fa” from Barber of Seville (F major; Melissa Wimbish, soloist)
