Celebrating the 211th birthday of Edgar Allan Poe with music, theatrical performances, Poe raffles, a Toast to Poe and the appearance of the mysterious Poe Toaster.  Past celebrations have been consistantly sold out.

Jeff Jerome and the Poe Project proudly present “Poe-pourri!”

The Poe Project created a stage adaptation, with music and narration featuring three different, yet equally powerful and timeless poems by Poe: The Coliseum, Eldorado and perhaps the world’s most famous poem The Raven!

Through the pairing of theatre and music, the Poe Project’s purpose is to discover new and creative ways of dramatically presenting the brilliantly macabe combination of darkness and beauty within Poe’s works for live audiences. The Poe Project is the collaborative effort of violist Peter Minkler and actor director Tim Marrone.

The violists performing these pieces are Peter Minkler and Mary Woehr. They both play for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

The Coliseum (1833). The music chosen is Mascagni’s Intermezzo.

Eldorado (1849) will be presented to Jonathan’s Leshnoff’s orignal composition, Eldorado. This will be the world premiere in a newly arranged version for two violas.

The Raven (1845) will be performed with Lament for Two Violas by Frank Bridge.

A raffle will be held for each event with a gift certificate to the Annabel Lee Tavern, Raven Beer glassware, original Poe artwork from June Ponte of Poe and Raven Gallery and other prizes! Prizes may vary for each performance.

The big prize is a Poe themed Poe Birthday Cake designed by Jeff Jerome.

At the conclusion of the interior event the audience will proceed to the Poe Monument to witness the mysterious Poe Toaster perform his ritual at the Poe Monument.

Jeff Jerome, curator emeritus, formerly with the Poe House will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Watch for our gofundme page coming soon.
