Have a Surreal day at the BMA!
From 1-5pm:
*Enjoy free admission to Monsters & Myths: Surrealism and War in the 1930s and 1940s
*Make masks inspired by Surrealism with teaching artists Trisha Chason and Kim Tyson
*Add to and rearrange a labyrinth created by graduate students from Morgan State University’s School of Architecture and Planning
*Spot performance artists throughout the Museum in striking costumes related to Monsters & Myths, adding a surreal element to your afternoon. Costumes by Naomi Davidoff and Vii Lee.
From 1-3pm:
*Make drawings of your dreams with Jungian Analyst and art therapist Sondra Geller, MA, ATR-BC, LPC.
At 1:30 and 3:30pm:
*Watch magical stories told through moving panoramas or hand-cranked scolls, known as crankies. The storytelling technique is one of the early concepts of cinema and often incorporates shadow puppets, music, and narration. Performances by Matt Muirhead, String Theory Theater, Liz Downing, and Katherine Fahey.
