Craving freshly-shucked oysters and want to support the Chesapeake seafood industry? Let’s get together for a virtual happy hour featuring a few of ORP’s partners who’ll teach us how to order, shuck, store, prepare, and pair oysters at home!

Featuring:
– A live cheers from Flying Dog Brewery and info about Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout.
– Tal Petty, Hollywood Oyster Company, will give us a glimpse into life on a local oyster farm, and share some interesting oyster facts.
– Gardner Douglas, The Oyster Ninja Podcast, will demonstrate how to safely shuck and enjoy our favorite bivalves at home.
– Dan Worrell, competitive shucker and Oyster Recovery Partnership Shell Recycling crew member will also be showcasing his skills.
– Nick Schauman, The Local Oyster, a Baltimore Favorite, will demo some simple and delicious grilled oyster recipes!
– Ward Slacum, ORP Executive Director, will drop some oyster knowledge and share restoration updates.
– Prize giveaways and more!

Oyster farms have struggled through the pandemic due to restaurant closures, and need our support more than ever. We’ve compiled a list of local oyster farms (https://oysterrecovery.org/blog/support-chesapeakes-seafood-industry/#D2COysterFarms) offering direct to consumer options. Oysters can safely stay in your fridge for about two weeks, so place your order ahead to have oysters for shucking.
