Summer in the Squares 2018 presents: BSO OrchKids

This summer, the OrchKids Jazz Band (see below for more info) will kick off Mount Vernon Place‘s Summer in the Squares entertainment season, teaming up with Baltimore Jazz Artists Russell Kirk (Alto Sax), Craig Alston (Bass/Tenor Sax), Lee Pearson (Drums) and Todd Simon (Keys/Organ) to perform a collaborative Jazz Concert in Mount Vernon Place.

Celebrate this festive evening and kick off of our summer season with a free reception co-sponsored by Revival, a Joie de Vivre Hotel. Quench your thirst and snack on sweet and savory goodies made by the chefs at Revival.

Bring a blanket or folding chair to sit on the grass or sidewalk and enjoy this FREE evening of music and festivities in Mount Vernon Place’s west square.

OrchKids is a year-round, during and after school, music program designed to create social change and nurture promising futures for youth in Baltimore City neighborhoods. Under Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director/OrchKids Founding Director, Marin Alsop’s artistic leadership and direction, OrchKids is the cornerstone of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s community engagement efforts across the city. Founded in 2008 with 30 students at one elementary school – with seed funding from Marin Alsop and Founding Donors Rheda Becker and Robert E. Meyerhoff. OrchKids now works with seven public schools in Baltimore City, serving over 1,300 children from Pre-K through 11th grade.
