ABOUT
The word democracy comes from the Greek dēmokratía, meaning ‘rule by the people’. Unfortunately in the U.S. it’s more like rule by some people, as a large proportion of Americans don’t vote or remain engaged after elections.

Global Shapers is using the Civic Dinners platform to host intimate face-to-face conversations exploring the barriers to voter participation in the United States and what we can do together to shift the needle and help to ensure a vibrant and truly representative democracy for 2020 and beyond.

We’ll be hosting dinners every Tuesday, and some Saturdays, in May.

Attendance is limited so attendees can hold a deep discussion and be truly heard and understood by each other, so reserve your spot in advance.

We want YOU to join us for a Civic Dinner:

**Emerging and established leaders in civic engagement and voter empowerment – we’d love to learn from you and co-host a dinner focused on the action items you already know are needed.
**Educated and confident voters – join us to elevate your engagement in voter issues and to share your knowledge, skills, and resources with timid first-time or non-voters.
**First-time or non-voters – we hope to introduce you to people and resources that will reduce the stress and barriers of participating in elections and to understand what is keeping you from voting in the first place.
