“All lines lead to Baltimore”

“All lines lead to Baltimore”

One has to wonder if – when he uttered the quote above – this is what the Duke of Windsor was thinking about when following these coordinates to Baltimore Harbor to meet his fashionable Baltimorean bride. This piece from Sassanova of Harbor East by Samantha Faye reflects just that and is a fabulous gift I’m snatching up for a local studying abroad.

Baltimore still has many fashionable gals around town also worth abdicating a throne. Like these four, who I snapped at a birthday brunch in the Ambassador Dining room. We were discussing what to wear to the Maryland Historical Society’s “Heirloom To Haute Gala” this weekend that will feature fashions tied to the Duchess of Windsor herself. From left to right – Monyka Berrocosa is in a vintage find and CoverGirl lipstick, Ella Pritsker is in her own design that will be showcased at gala, Lisa Weiderlight in a CK overcoat and dress by Nine West, and Helga Surrat of About Faces is in a gorgeous shaw from Nemacolin Resort wearing Smashbox Legendary Red lipstick.

I also caught Monyka Berrocosa – of MyCity4Her, by the way – checking out the new SJP – as in Sarah Jessica Parker – shoe collection in its namesake boutique before we headed to the Cher concert at the new MGM casino. These are inspired by Parker’s “Sex in the City” character Carrie and her beloved Manolos.

Back to talking Heirloom to Haute – Ella is snapped here making final adjustments to the lines of a design of hers for an appearance on WBAL news, showing her modern take on some of the vintage offerings at the Gala. She’s with model Scarlett Horn just minutes before they both went live in the studio.

No model or gown would be complete without the glam squad. Hair stylist Christina Harrison (left) of About Faces Towson joined us in the snow to assist in the green room whipping model Scarlett Horn into vintage perfection with makeup by me in just a few minutes. The pastel blue cream shadow, full brows, powdered skin, intense blue khol liner complete her modern take on vintage.

More makeup talk – For the lady afraid of color, but longing to try, head to MAC Cosmetics in Harbor East and check out the new collection of 15 jewel-toned , long-wearing mascaras and matching liners. They’re an easy, modern way to coordinate with your vintage frock this weekwnd and not overdo the shadow.

While running around town myself looking for something to wear this weekend, I had the pleasure of working with Vanessa Fava Pivec, Essentials by Panache owner, at a Hilton Hollis trunk show. I got her to try out the Laura Mercier eye pencil and lipstick in Brown Sugar.

Finally, it’s time for me to get ready for the Heirloom to Haute Gala myself. Aforementioned designer Hilton Hollis turned me onto this stunning handpainted pocket square, featuring quite-the-vintage gal who seems to have forgotten her frock, but not the great shoes, hair, and makeup!
See you all there with my pocket square,
Owen
