Now in its 28th year, the Baltimore Harbor cup often offers sporty fall sailing and one of the Bay’s best after-parties. Beginning at Baltimore Light at the mouth of the Magothy River, and ending in Baltimore Harbor near Fells Point, the race typically follows a >20 nm route taking boats north toward Seven Foot Knoll, east toward the Eastern Shore, back around Craighill Light, and then up the Patapsco River, under the Francis Scott Key Bridge and into the harbor. The finish line will be off the dock at the Anchorage Marina. This year, the party will be at the Anchorage Marina (on the dock, weather permitting, or in the clubhouse if necessary) close to the finish line and close to all the amenities of Baltimore’s Canton neighborhood and Fells Point. Free temporary (3 hour) tie-up will be available during the party, or you could arrange for discounted overnight rate of $40.00 (call 410-522-7200 to request BCYA Race Discount). There will be food, plenty to drink, live music, event t-shirts for sale, and all the camaraderie that comes with sailboat racing. A delightful spread of eats from Andy Nelson’s BBQ, and beverages (including beer and Dark & Stormies) will be plentiful. It will be well worth the $35 per head ticket charge.
