The 6th Annual Charm City Django Jazz Fest returns with a tuned-in lineup from around the globe celebrating the music and legacy Django Reinhardt.

Friday Night:  An unparalleled lineup of the top Django jazz artists in the world have recorded new sets of music for this special kickoff concert. Hosted by Django Jazz Fest Artistic Director, Michael Joseph Harris, this concert features musicians recorded in France, Belgium, Netherlands, England, and America.

Saturday Afternoon: We host a series of Zoom-based workshops on guitar, violin and mandolin that will appeal to various skill levels. You can join for one, a few, or a full day of licks and learning.

Saturday Night: Broadcast live from the Creative Alliance Theater and filmed in incredible HD with four cameras, features nine of Baltimore’s finest swing musicians. They celebrate “Django & His American Friends”, the recordings made by Django between 1935 and 1938 which found Django Reinhardt collaborating with such heavy-hitters as Coleman Hawkins and Eddie South.

Our night will be a homage to Volume 1 & 2 of Django and His American Friends LPs which included thirty-two selections recorded between March 2, 1935 and April 5, 1938 featuring Reinhardt and several of Europe’s best jazz players in collaboration with tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins, reedman Frank “Big Boy” Goudie, multi-instrumentalist Benny Carter, trumpeter Bill Coleman, trombonist Dicky Wells, cornetist Rex Stewart, clarinetist Barney Bigard, violinist Eddie South, and pianist Garnet Clark. In addition, expect set of of traditional Gypsy waltzes composed by Django Reinhard, Tchan Tchou Vidal, Fapy Lafertin, and the Ferré Brothers along with Valse Musette pieces by Gus Viseur, Tony Murena, and Jo Privat.
