What is the Just for Today Café Project?

The TJR Center is looking to expand its work with those formerly incarcerated.  As obtaining employment is often the primary barrier to restoring a healthy and productive lifestyle for those with a criminal history, the Just for Today Café project is a program that will operate as an interim employment hub for individuals to build their work history and professional skills while receiving wrap-around supports which will aid them in maintaining recovery, meeting their health and wellness needs and making vital connections to other community resources. The goal of the café is to provide employment and support that will prepare individuals for sustainable and permanent employment in the community.

 

Why should I support the project?

Ninety five percent of incarcerated individuals are eventually released into local communities nationwide.  Furthermore, having a record reduces the likelihood of a job call back or offer by as much as 50 percent.  Therefore, there is a need for individuals with a criminal record to gain employment that will decrease barriers associated with job training, housing, and community/family engagement.

We need your support to expand employment and learning opportunities and the Just for Today Café Project is a step in the right direction.
