Baltimore boards the fashion express!

When I met up with Erin Smyth Tielsch at the Taste of Maryland After Party in her electric blue pattern dress, one of the first things she said about it was that the frock “shines the happiness” she feels after recently becoming a new mom.As for her carefree, classic, yet eclectic style…“I believe that style heightens confidence when wearing clothes that speak to who you are as a person,” she said.I couldn’t agree more. She loves a solid pair of sweatpants any day, but enjoys the feeling of finding that perfect dress for an event like The After Party. Overall, she’s laid-back and has the classic basics. But, Erin’s always on the lookout for fun pieces that will mix her wardrobe up.

As for her show-stopping hot pink earrings, they added to Erin’s lively vibe!

I spotted Steven King at The After Party for A Taste of Maryland wearing a Ron Tomson jacket from Gilt. The detail of the added zipper trim for a little modern edge and the black herringbone lapel gave it a great layered look that made it POP.

Steven’s style is one that is more of a comfortable-casual-meets-urban look – “a J.Crew look with a bit of flair,” as he describes it.For evening, his staple is a dark blazer and colors and tones that are navy and charcoal. He loves wearing these looks with jeans (here, Scotch & Soda brand) to make it polished, yet comfortable. His signature item is a pair of big and dark glasses like those he’s wearing here to give off an urban contemporary vibe. Event planner Steven relates his style and image to some of his favorite hotels such as The Beekman, The Surrey and The Nomad (one of my best-loved hotels). While we were talking all about NYC, all I could think of was my next trip to the city!

Erin Norton’s glitz and glam caught my eye from across the room at the B&O museum at the same party.Years of costuming for the stage has given Erin an appreciation for sequins and sparkle, so she looks for fun opportunities to wear some! However, on a daily basis, she refers to her style as casual (at best) because she teaches dance for a living and chases her little boys around at home. She buys clothes that are functional for being on the go, which translates into black leggings and layers. On this particular night, though, she steals the show with her gold and black sequin Eliza J mini dress with adorable heart shapes throughout. She picked a solid color Charles David heel…

…and was light on the David Yurman accessories, so they didn’t distract from the dress.

Found – A People United. All these pieces from the Mount Vernon shop are made of real sterling silver and were handpicked by the owner of the store. The ring is made with old turquoise from Tibet. She told me you can tell because it features unique flaws and discolorations. If you are looking for beautiful bangles to get ready for summer, check out the chunky silver bangle with squares filled with real gold leaf. The silver snake bangles symbolizes change and regeneration. They’re easily adjusted to fit on the upper or lower arm.

The decorative coined and beaded belt is a fun addition to any outfit. The beaded piece with pops of color works best over jeans, skirts, and could even compliment a bikini for a fun boho look.
