Sleekly Summer

Clever gift and housewares store on The Avenue in Hampden, Trohv, always has creative, inspiring window displays. This one, employing an all-white background of display objects which frame the featured item, the super-stylish exploration kit bag, the Chase ($175) from local crafters, Treason Toting Co., is a stunner. And the bag is perfect for summer pool trips, hiking, overnights, and then can transition into fall as a campus/office book bag/work tote. {treasontoting.com; Trohv, 921 W. 36th Street, Hampden}

We’re fans of the Sagamore Pendry Hotel and its interior restaurant, bar, and lounge spaces, but the property has recently opened the beautiful and stylish outdoor pool deck and pool bar for the summer season. The bar is open to the public, and is situated at the end of the pier with all-around harbor views.

On a sunny, breezy recent Sunday, we ordered one of their signature cocktails, an old Baltimore classic, the Frozen Rye, a concoction of lime, orange juice, pineapple syrup, orange curacao and Sagamore rye whiskey. A perfect, refreshing cocktail for summer. {Sagamore Pendry Hotel, 1715 Thames Street, Fells Point}

The new downtown boutique hotel, Delta by Marriott, has introduced a sophisticated menu in its bar and restaurant, Tell Tale, situated on a prominent corner at Charles and Redwood streets. At a recent tasting, we were feted with a sampling of 10 appetizers/small plates and two entrees, all delicious. My favorites included the Watermelon & Feta Stack, $9; Steak Crostini, $9 ($7 during happy hour); Avocado Caprese Toast, $10 ($7 during happy hour); and the Crab Stack, $11 ($8 during happy hour, and a great deal).

I was also impressed with the stylish lounge space adjoining the dining room…

..the distinctive, intriguing Scandinavian-design water pitchers…

..and a pitch-perfect vodka martini. {Delta by Marriott, 1 E. Redwood Street, downtown}

Finally, my friend Andy Berman shows another way to keep cool in summer party perfect attire – a Navy blue jumpsuit-style cover-up by Luli Fama, two-piece swimsuit by Vix, and raffia platform sandals by Pour La Victoire (faux tan by St. Tropez).
