What to Wear: BSO Gala

What to Wear: BSO Gala

Fall party season has officially arrived!

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Gala unofficially kicks off Fall party season on September 9th. Ladies, here are my picks for what to wear to this year’s event. The best part? All these options are timeless. Every single one of the following items can be used for a formal party (or wedding). Some – worn alone – can even be used in everyday life.

I have a passion for gowns, which might just stem from my mother having an entire gown closet. So, of course, when it was time to pick a dress, I couldn’t bring myself to go for just one. All three of these dresses are by Theia and can be found at Francesca’s Atelier in Green Spring Station.

My favorite part about this black dress is the flower detail. I love how the embellishment heavier on the midsection, and then becomes lighter towards the bottom. Also, this is one of those dresses that looks good on almost all body types. {Theia, $1,295, Francesca’s Atelier in Green Spring Station, 10751 Falls Road, Lutherville, MD 21093} (Photo courtesy Francesca’s Atelier)

The second dress option is this gorgeous red number. Who doesn’t love a lady in red? If you want to stand out in the crowd, this is most definitely the way to go. That said, this frock isn’t flashy. So, you’ll be able to wear it again. {Theia, $1,295, Francesca’s Atelier in Green Spring Station, 10751 Falls Road, Lutherville, MD 21093} (Photo courtesy Francesca’s Atelier)

What I love about this – my final – pick is that it’s a little rock-n-roll with the beading and slit. After all, who says you can’t be a little edgy at the symphony? Not to mention, with that amazing slit, you – and everyone else – can check out your amazing footwear all night! {Theia, $995, Francesca’s Atelier in Green Spring Station, 10751 Falls Road, Lutherville, MD 21093} (Photo courtesy Francesca’s Atelier)

Speaking of shoes, I found this amazing pair of Pelle Moda heels at Matava, also in Green Spring Station. The color will pop with any of these dresses. The best part? They aren’t shoes that will just sit in your closet. You can get away with wearing them with a pair of jeans and a blazer. {Pelle Moda Bonnie in Gold Satin, $170, Matava, 2630 W Joppa Road, Lutherville, MD 21093} (Photo courtesy pellemoda.com)

In fact, you’ll just have to wear these with other things. Did you check out the heel? It really makes the shoe! (Photo courtesy pellemoda.com)

Personally, I think of gold as a neutral. But, if for some reason you don’t agree, they are also available in the ultimate neutral – black. (Photo courtesy pellemoda.com)

As far as a bag is concerned, I think a simple clutch is the way to go. This one by Saint Laurent is super cute and functional (i.e. both your phone and lipstick will fit in it). The black goes with all of my dress picks and is available at Nordstrom. If you happen to like the nude better, they can order it for you in the store or you can order it online. {Saint Laurent Monogram Clutch, $1,245, Nordstrom Towson Town Center, 700 Fairmont Avenue, Towson, MD, 21286} (Photo courtesy nordstrom.com)

While David Yurman doesn’t usually catch my eye, when I saw this cuff, I was actually floored. When you’re wearing a statement dress, I think it’s important to go easy on the jewelry. This cuff is the perfect last touch. It has clean lines, and just a hint of gold. {David Yurman Cuff, $850, Nordstrom Towson Town Center} (Photo courtesy nordstrom.com)

All of these pieces are sure to last you many party seasons to come. So, have fun getting formal and stay chic! xx
