What to Wear: 5 Party Picks for 2018

Happy New Year! I spent my holiday in sunny Los Angeles. But, now that I’m back to reality, it’s time to start thinking about what to wear in 2018. Whether your wardrobe is in need of an update or you just have that itch to shop, I have a feeling you’ll love these five party pieces.

I saw this Yumi Kim jacket on Sassanova’s Instagram (@sassanovaofbaltimore) and it was love at first site. The color…the feathers…what more could you ask for? Not to mention, you could totally layer a top coat over your shoulders and wear the jacket aa a blazer on an extra chilly night. {Away We Go jacket by Yumi Kim $240, Sassanova Harbor East, 805 Aliceanna Street 21202} (Photo courtesy Google Images)

As you probably know by now, I have a slight addiction to leather leggings. For those of you in the market for a new pair of vegan leather leggings, this pair from Lysse is currently on sale for $69.90 -marked down from $98 – at Sassanova. (Photo courtesy lysse.com)

For those of you who prefer the look and feel of actual leather, I bought a pair of Rag and Bone leather leggings when it first started getting cold outside and can say that I’ve probably worn them once a week since. It looks like the elastic waistband pair that I bought are sold out, but I found a similar pair with a zipper online at Net-A-Porter. {Rag & Bone High-Rise Leather Skinny Pants $995} (Photo courtesy netaporter.com)

As far as tops are concerned, you can’t really go wrong with a basic black statin. You can tuck it in or wear it out, depending on how skinny you feel that day. Not to mention, the chances of a basic black top going out of style are pretty slim. I found this one on sale for $27.90 at Nordstrom Towson Town Center {700 Fairmount Ave Towson, MD 21286}. Honestly, at that price, if it fits, I’d consider buying two. (Photo courtesy nordstrom.com)

No wardrobe is complete without the perfect bag. I am obsessed with this one by Gucci. AND you can wear it into the spring and summer. Talk about a win-win situation. They don’t carry it at our Nordstrom, but you can call and ask a stylist to order it for you. They can either send it to your house or you can pick up in store. I’m all about online shopping, but in cases like this where you can get an item through a local salesperson make the phone call instead of just clicking. That way, if you have any issues you have a local contact and you’re supporting a local stylist. {Gucci Small Padlock Signature Leather Shoulder Bag $1850} (Photo courtesy nordstrom.com)

I know it’s hard to get motivated to do anything with the arctic weather outside. I’m notorious for cancelling plans in the winter months. But I always rally when there is a new outfit involved! xx

About Veida McCampbell

Anyone who knows Veida McCampbell will tell you that she knows how to dress. Whether she's going to a meeting, heading to a workout or en route to a party, she’s always turned out perfectly for the occasion.   Veida looks at personal style as an opportunity to make a statement about yourself without having to speak a single word.   “Someone’s impression of you is often determined by what you are wearing. Why not make it a good one?” she says.   It’s one thing to be able to style yourself. It’s another to be able to help others that way. Veida has mastered the art of both. Before she started her marketing consulting business, Veida worked as a television producer in LA. As a producer, part of her job was - you guessed it – helping style the on-camera talent.    Working in the entertainment industry gave her exposure and access to leading designers and stylists, which further boosted her fashion education. With Veida back in Baltimore and now the go-to fashion advisor for many of her friends, we’ve asked her to share her knowledge and skill with us. In her bi-weekly column, “What To Wear,” Veida will rely on Baltimore area shops to both put together outfits she suggests for upcoming Baltimore events, and to answer some of your style questions.
