Avant Garb: Summer Staying Power

Avant Garb: Summer Staying Power

The kids are back to school, and summer is slowly winding down. But don’t put away the sun screen just yet! There are still some solid summer looks left in the mix.

Alisha was the first woman I ran into this week, dishing out fabulous summer looks. She said she owes her style choices to her TrunkClub.com subscription. I have never heard about this before so I had to do some investigating. It is a personalized clothing service that allows clients to pay only for the items they choose to keep (both her shirt and shoes came in one “trunk).
“To be honest, I am not a fashionista by any means; that doesn’t mean I don’t want to be fashionable though. That is why I use Trunk Club. Trunk Club carries a variety of high-quality inventory for both men and women including casual, business attire, formal wear, shoes, and accessories at various price points. The stylists are real people who are invested in your personal style. You are assigned your own personal stylist with whom you chat with on finding what your style is, and what you are looking for,” she told me.

Her white Treasure & Bond slip-ons are bright, modern and sleek. I love the simple design. These would also look fabulous with jeans.

I love this skirt. The length is fabulous for a hot day, and the color helps it to look even more summery and youthful. The soft baby doll blue looks adorable and works great for a casual summer look. The light blue fabric and white trim also feels vintage, adding more character to the look. Her skirt is from one of her favorite stores, White House Black Market.

Next, I ran into Ashleigh at the Canton Pool Club. I LOVE her look. This is the epitome of a sexy summer get-up that is flirty, young, and perfect for the occasion. There is nothing like showing off a little leg while poolside with a cocktail in hand.
Ashleigh said her blue and white linen dress is from Shein. The dress is super cute and the slit adds an interesting element that grabs your attention. With the halter style top, this dress is a win-win. The white and baby blue stiped fabric is a nod to the 50’s, but in a design that feels current and fresh.

Her white heels are from Old Navy and pair excellently with…

…her white Bauble Bar collection dangle earrings from Target. Target and Old Navy are great stores for picking up stylish accents on a budget.

Her chain-link purse is from Lou Lou Boutique in Annapolis. This piece is memorable and has so much personality. The design on the bag pairs great with the beachy poolside vibe, and the gold accents in the zipper and chain make it look sophisticated. Overall – the purse adds a fun and charismatic element to her look that gives it extra that extra bit of originality.
“I like affordable, feminine and colorful pieces, and dresses are a great way to pretend like you spent time getting dressed when you are a busy working mom,” she confided. I couldn’t agree more! If you love Ashleigh’s look as much as I do then follow her on Instagram @HealthyLivingwithAsh where she posts a lot of her outfits.

FOUND – My friend from MICA invited me into one of his shopping secrets – a thrift store called Savers in Parkville. Who knew that this big gem of treasure-hunting shopping even existed? From the outside, I would drive right past…thinking it was a generic grocery store. This place is perfect for someone who doesn’t mind sorting through a lot of clothes to find some affordable one-of-a-kind pieces. I’m happy I stopped in because I fell in love with this tunic style dress.

The intricate design that incorporates turquoise and gold accents makes it appear high-end while also seeming unique and unlike anything in your typical store-front. Palm Beach Barbie is ready for some cocktail pool party fun. Enchanté, fashionistas!
